book01.jpgMOTTAINAI Campaign and a popular children's book called "MOTTAINAI Grandma" was introduced on the NPR (National Public Radio) on October 8th.

It showed as a feature on a program called "Morning Edition", and it was the first time that MOTTAINAI Campaign took up widely in the United States.
A correspondent, David Kestenbaum, introduced "Many Japanese recycle bath water into washing machine or watering flowers in the garden. MOTTAINAI ideology is the heart of Japanese". However, he continued ironically "Hummer, a sports car which needs more gasoline than a usual car, is very popular in Japan. Two contrary thoughts are living together".
Wangari Maathai from Kenya tells us the importance of the word “MOTTAINAI” which Japanese people have deeply in mind. Kestenbaum concluded with "If foreigners evaluate, it will be a chance to realize again the importance of our own culture which we usually don't care about".
